GOC & West-Creek Townhome 2009 1st Health Fair

On behalf of GOC we would like to thank Westcreek Townhomes for inviting us to the 1st Health Fair of 2009.  It was a big success with family and children attending and having fun.  We would like to thank all the GOC Members that participated in making this a successful event.

Guardians of the Children Mission Statement:

Guardians of the Children (GOC) serves as a public benefit organization.  We exist to educate the public about child abuse and create a safer environment for abused and neglected children.  As a body of bikers, we help empower chldren to  be courageous , even in the face of their ordeals.  We stand ready to lend support to our wounded little friends.  Our mission is to send a clear message to all who would abuse children that we are prepared to protect these children through our physical and emotional support.  GOC does not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner.  However, if we as a group, or as an individual, must act to prevent the abuse of another child, we will do so.

Reporting Child Abuse: An oral report must be made immediately (within 48 hours) to nearest child Protective Service Office, to the 24-hours Child Abuse hotline (1-800-252-5400), or to the local law enforcement officials. Anyone who files a report is immune from civil or criminal liability-if the report is made in "good faith" and "without malice" "Good faith means the person took resonable steps to learn the facts that were readily available and at hand. "without malice" means the person did not intend to iniure or violate the right of another person.

What Happens after I make the Decision to Report suspected child Abuse? Several events take place after the intial compiant is filed. Depending on where you live, you might report suspected abuse and/or neglect to your local child protective agency. The person responding to the call may ask you several questions about what you are reporting. This is done to ensure the enough information is available for the investigative team to make decisions concerning whether or not abuse/neglect has occurred. You might be asked ti give names of family and child, your reasons for supecting abuse, the name, address and telephone numbers of other witnesses, your relationship to the alleged victim, any other previous suspicious injury to the child. You may aslo be asked for your nmae, address and telephone number.
